From its inception Hereford Choral Society it has always been conducted by the Organist and Director of Music at Hereford Cathedral. Since 2001 this post has been held by Geraint Bowen.
Roy Massey (1934-), conductor: 1974-2001
Dr Massey received an MBE in 1997 for services to music. He is believed to be unique in having twice given the opening recital following the rebuilding of the cathedral organ, in 1978 and in 2005.
